New Life is thrilled to be part of spreading God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.

Matthew 25: 42-45 says “42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ 44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
Those involved in this ministry take this scripture to heart. They spend hours writing to those in prison, sharing God’s Word with them and praying for them daily.

The Future is an Opportunity
Do not say, “Why is it that the former days were better than these?”
Time keeps on moving and we are constantly amazed at its progress! Our kids are getting bigger and we are getting older. The summer is over, school has begun and Thanksgiving is on the way. We’ve recently been discussing how

God is the God of the living, not the dead. He is the God of the present, which is what is real. When we watch the news we see one of two things. Either there is anticipation, fear, or anxiety over what may come to pass but has not yet happened, or there is an exhaustive rehashing of what has already taken place and why. The news doesn’t, and our daily life rarely, centers on what is happening. As a result, we often overlook the beautiful, green skin of a common cucumber or the brilliant, orange pollen carried on the leg of a bumblebee. The brilliance and exceptionality of the current moment is lost in a torrent of “what ifs” and “have beens.”

We are trying to appreciate the realities of what is currently happening every day. It is good to remember that the Lord has been constant—to remember our identity in Christ and how He has crafted us. It is not, however, good to live in the past and walk backward to the future. We are overcomers in Christ and the future is a constant opportunity to appreciate the present moment and choose to reflect Jesus. The future is unfolding and we have the ability to see how God is moving—and to be part of it!

Over this summer, we have been encouraged to see how God’s network is broad and rich—full of diverse people and unique talents. Many of these people are involved in relationships with Muslims in the Cincinnati area and have a lot of questions. We have been encouraged by the number of opportunities to share, encourage, and excite local Christians to step out and engage the Muslim community as well as non-Muslims!

On September 29 & 30 there will be a special opportunity for people in Ohio. It is an event called Without Borders and is a great opportunity to learn more about Islam and how to understand it, as well as how to better relate to Muslims. It is traditionally a Women’s conference, but this September there is a men’s track as well! Both of us will be there and we want to personally invite you to consider coming as well (and bring your friends!).

The Without Borders conference seeks to break down walls of mutual suspicion and prejudice, and to better understand and engage Muslims, whether they live across the street or across the ocean.

Highlights include:
  • Testimonies by women who left Islam to follow Christ
  • Exploration of what Islamic texts teach about women
  • Advice and encouragement from speakers who moved past their own fear to love Muslim women
  • Discussion of jihad, terrorism, and refugees in a Biblical context
  • Practical ways to turn conversations to matters of faith
  • Workshops addressing common questions Muslim women ask about the Bible
  • Resources and tools to support your journey of discovery
  • Network with local and national ministries reaching Muslims
