New Life is thrilled to be part of spreading God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.

Matthew 25: 42-45 says “42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ 44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
Those involved in this ministry take this scripture to heart. They spend hours writing to those in prison, sharing God’s Word with them and praying for them daily.

We hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving and are looking forward to an exciting Christmas! We are praying that the transition to the New Year will open new possibilities and opportunities for you, just as we expect it will do for us.

It has been a very busy Fall for us! We have had many exciting adventures and have been able to help with several ministry initiatives. We also have been able to attend and help at a few conferences. Since this is a little long, we have given asummary below and then more information following:

  • We were able to help lead and participate in 3 conferences
  • Dave has been coaching a Russian missionary to Central Asia
  • Dave has been helping Crescent Project with Mobilization
  • We would appreciate prayers for 2018 planning

September 29-30—Without Borders, Columbus Ohio
We were able to leave the kids with grandparents and spend a weekend at a women’s conference on ministry to Muslim women. We were excited to see several friends and supporters there. Annette was able to contribute on a panel focusing on experiences working among Muslims. Dave helped with logistics and resources. Overall, we had 350 women come for a 2-day seminar on how to share Jesus with Muslim women. It was a huge blessing to see the sheer number of local women who were interested and willing to step out in new ways to engage in conversation with Muslims in Ohio. We are thankful to see movement like that!

November 2-4—National Conference, Raleigh-Durham North Carolina
We, again, left the kids with grandparents (thanks guys!) and traveled together to our workshop-based conference to invest in and help equip people from across the US to speak into the Muslim communities where they live. We had excellent participants asking great questions and were able to help connect many of them with ways to engage in ministry locally. We also had a sizable number of former Muslims who now follow Jesus. Several of them were able to share their story, which is a very compelling encouragement. It helps underscore the fact that regular Americans can impact Muslims when we are willing to accept them as friends and share life in a way that is consistent and meaningful.

November 16-18—ICOM, Peoria Illinois
We took all of the kids with us this time and went to the Missionary Convention in Peoria. We went for many reasons. First, it has been a LONG time since we attended this conference with no responsibilities. We were actually participants this year and wanted to introduce the kids to Missions in a way that was engaging and fresh. We had several great things happen including talking with old friends, talking with ministries that have a domestic focus as well as international, and connecting with Ministers from Russian-speaking areas.

We connected with Scott LaRue, part of Impact Ministry Group, with whom Dave went to Moscow. There was a Russian leader there who had taken part in the training in 2015 and we were encouraged to hear about the new developments there.

In addition to these conferences, Dave has been helping coach a Russian couple who are gearing up to take a 3-month exploratory trip to Central Asia. They are hoping to create a platform for ministry and engage in outreach among Muslims. Dave has been meeting via Skype with the husband for several weeks and will do so until they leave after the New Year. They are committing to 3 months, but are open to staying for 3 years. This would be a great help to the ministry currently going on there. Pray that they will be encouraged and equipped, that God would open relationships for them and that their platform for staying would be clearly shown as viable or not. This is a great example of the Russian church sending their own missionaries into closed or difficult contexts! That is an example of what we have been working toward for many years and we feel privileged to be a small part contributing to innovation and new efforts.

Finally, Dave has been helping the Crescent Project Director of Mobilization work through some ideas about how to engage participants from our events and connect them with practical opportunities afterward. This has become more of a focus over the past 6 months and has been a great process for Dave. He has enjoyed helping develop strategic ways to encourage new ministry as a result of Crescent Project’s teaching and vision.

We would appreciate your prayers. We are asking God to give us clarity as we evaluate our ministry and focus. We have seen a lot of excellent growth and new opportunities over the past 6 months and are open to doing more. Would you commit to pray for us as we look for clarity in how to prioritize our efforts and plan for 2018?

Thank you for continuing to faithfully supporting our ministry and for encouraging us!

Dave & Annette
