Purpose of being involved in a Discipleship Group

1. To grow in Christ through study, transparency and accountability.

2. To grow in Christ through service and outreach.

3. To grow in Christ by creating disciples who make disciples.

Are you willing to stretch your faith and become an active participant in discipleship?  Do you have questions about what Discipleship Groups are?

Discipleship: A Life-long Process of Spiritual Transformation

A commitment to discipleship involves…

1. IDENTITY – Who am I?

(See Ephesians 1:3-14.)

  • I have made a commitment to be a Christ follower (Acts 2:38)

  • I choose daily to place Christ’s desires ahead of my own (Luke 9:23-25)

2. MIND – What do I believe? What motivates me?

(See 1 Corinthians 2:9-16)

  • I love God (Matthew 22:37)

  • I love people (Matthew 22:39)

  • I am obedient to God’s authority (Philippians 2:5-11)

  • I model a living faith (Matthew 5:1-12)

3. CHARACTER – How do I live? What are my priorities?

(See Matthew 4:1-10.)

  • I am knowledgeable about God’s Word (1 Timothy 3:16)

  • I am focused (1 Corinthians 2:2)

  • I am teachable (Philippians 4:9)

  • I demonstrate the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22, 23)

4. HABITS – What should I know, so I can use it when I need it?

(See Luke 2:41-52 and Hebrews 5:8)

  • I spend time in prayer (Matthew 6:5-13)

  • I regularly practice spiritual disciplines (e.g., silence, fasting) (Matthew 6:16-18)

  • I adhere to Christ’s teaching (John 8:31, 32)

5. RELATIONSHIPS – How do I treat others?

(See John 13:34, 35.)

  • I am: merciful, compassionate, influential, encouraging, caring, grace-filled, and unselfish (Matthew 5:43-48)

  • I seek to understand before I am understood (James 1:19)

6. INFLUENCE – How do I reproduce new disciples?

(See Matthew 28:16-20.)

  • I readily share the Gospel (Romans 1:16)

  • I am accountable (1 Peter 3:10-12)

  • I am intentional in reaching lost people (Luke 19:10)

7. SERVICE – How do I minister?

(See Mark 10:25-39, 45.)

  • I am willing to serve (Ephesians 6:7, 8)

  • I am obedient to the Word (James 1:22)

8. TRANSFORMATION – Who do I need to become?

(See Romans 12:1-3)

  • I regularly engage in self-examination (Ephesians 4:22-24)
